International Students' Day

Back in 2019 there were over 6 million international students studying around the world. Although the pandemic caused this number to decrease, international students are still a very important part of our global society.


An international student is defined by UNESCO as “a person that has left their country of origin and moved to another country with the singular objective of studying”. In the United States it is described as “non-immigrant visitors who come to the US temporarily to take classes”. Most international students return to their home country at the end of their study; however, many international students find jobs and transition to work visas and finally residency.

Zoni September Blog – DC Trip

Have you ever been to Washington DC? We have! On 25th August, 440 Zoni students traveled to our nation’s capital for a day of history, culture, and lots of English! This wasn’t the first time Zoni has taken a field trip to DC. It is such an important location in the history of the United States that we take students there annually.

Washington DC is not far from New York taking roughly four and a half hours by bus. Although we set off early, the bus ride is always fun. It is a great opportunity for students from different classes and campuses to get to know each other and break the ice.

Once there, students had an exciting day including a tour, lunch and visits to various monuments and sites.

It's Back to School Time!!

After a long, hot summer vacation, it is time for students to head back to school! Going back to school is a big deal – not just for students but for parents as well. It is a very exciting time; most students will find themselves in a new grade, a new class and maybe even a new school. For language school students, back to school might seem like a weird concept because you do not have long summer holidays! However, back to school is about more than actually going back to school. Field Trip: Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is an incredible place! Did you know that it isn’t just one waterfall? In fact, there are three waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls in Canada and the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls in the United States. Together they are known as the ‘Niagara Falls’. Horseshoe Falls sits on the border between the two countries, making it one of the most beautiful international crossings in the world! Altogether, 3 160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second.

Looking Back on 2020

At Zoni, we have a student-centered approach to teaching. Since 1991, Hundreds of thousands of students have studied English at our school. To achieve this our curriculum combines a range of learning techniques not only keeping things interesting but also to make sure that different learning styles are catered for. Zoni reopens campuses for in-person classes!

We are happy to announce that on August 24, 2020 all Zoni campuses reopened for in-person classes. At the same time, our virtual program is still available for students enrolled in a VPP only course and for other students in special circumstances.

To keep our students, teachers and staff safe, we have implemented a number of health and hygiene practices. All of these measures comply with what is recommended by the Centre of Disease Control (CDC) and we ask that everyone does their best to follow the rules.
