The Occupational English Test (OET) is a test designed for healthcare professionals who are looking to work in English speaking countries and require proof of their professional English language skills. It does not test medical knowledge, just your ability to listen, read, write, and speak in a healthcare setting.
The OET has been designed for 12 healthcare professions, including Dentistry, Dietetics, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Radiography, Speech Pathology, and Veterinary Science. You can find out more about the specific healthcare boards, councils and universities accept the OET here
The test is split into 4 parts: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The subtests for speaking and writing are specific to your profession. To pass the OET you will need a minimum grade of B or score at least 350 points in all 4 sub-sections. You should receive your grade 16 working days after the exam.
If you don’t feel ready to sit the exam, then please enquire for information on our OET Preparation course.
