New Campus
2021 is coming to an end. But before we say goodbye to another year, we have some very exciting news to share! After two decades our Manhattan campus has moved to a new location! As of November 30, Zoni Manhattan opened its doors at 535 8th Avenue! Our new campus entrance and Admissions Department are on the ground floor making it easy for students to find us and get the assistance they need.
Zoni Manhattan’s new campus is still at the heart of midtown and is even closer to Penn Station and Port Authority. Students can easily access the subway, LIRR and New Jersey Transit including buses and trains. This means that getting to and from Zoni Manhattan has never been easier!
Classrooms and Courses
On our new campus, most classes will take place on the second floor and have large
windows, lots of natural light and views of the city below. International students can study
English at all levels, from beginner to advanced. Our classes are also highly interactive and a lot of
fun!
Zoni has developed their own English language curriculum, which has been successfully used by hundreds
of thousands of students since 1991. Applying for Zoni is easy. Contact us for more information here cpoon@zoni.edu.
Nearby attractions for after school/free time
Just like at our previous building, Zoni’s new campus is near many of New York City’s main attractions. Our students have a lot of activities and things to see within a short walk from our school. Here are a few of our favorites:
Times Square
Times Square is one of the world’s most visited tourist attractions, welcoming over 50 million people each year (before the pandemic). It is famous for the many electronic billboards, bright lights and advertisements on the outside of the square's buildings. The Broadway Theater District is also found on/adjacent to Times Square.
The holiday season is a great time to visit Times Square! There are many exciting things to see for example:
Show Globes
The Show Globes are giant snow globes depicting scenes from some of the most popular shows on Broadway! The Show Globes are located at Broadway Plaza between 45th and 46th Streets and will be there until December 26th.
New Year’s Wish
Times Square is also famous for its New Year’s Eve party and Ball Drop. Each year New Yorkers and tourists alike gather in Times Square to welcome in the New Year. There are special performances and a countdown known as the ball drop (a giant disco ball is dropped as the time counts down). This year you can add your wish to the wishing wall at Times Square. Write your wish on a small square of paper and stick it to the Wishing Wall. On New Year’s Eve these squares of paper will be added to the confetti that is released as the ball drops at midnight! If you can’t make it to the Wishing Wall, you can also submit your wishes online! You can find more information here
Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden is one of the most famous sports and concert venues in the world! It opened on February 11, 1968 and is the oldest major sporting facility in the New York metropolitan area. The Garden is located above Penn Station and is used for ice hockey and basketball, as well as other sports, concerts, circuses, and much more! It is also home to the New York Rangers (Hockey), the New York Knicks (Basketball).
In the coming months there are a wide range of sporting events and concerts taking place at the garden.
These include basketball, Hockey, comedy shows, concerts and the world-famous Westminster Kennel Club
Dog Show! More information can be found on the Madison Square Garden website.
High Line
The High Line was opened in 2009. It is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) elevated park, built
on a disused railway track. It provides a beautiful greenspace in between the West 34th and the
Meatpacking District. The High Line Park was inspired by the Promenade plantée, a similar project in
Paris.
The park is also home to a range of outdoor sculpture and art pieces. During the Winter months the High
Line is open from 7am – 7pm and as of December 01, pre-booking is not necessary. As well as enjoying a
nice walk, you can take a free guided tour or even sponsor an insect!
Hudson Yards
Hudson Yards is the name given to the Manhattan neighborhood development which is being
built over the West Side Rail Yard. Hudson Yards has a mix of high-end living, entertainment and
shopping opportunities. Hudson Yards has beautiful architecture and has created spaces that are truly
“instagrammable”.
During the holiday season, Hudson Yards has installed a large number of Christmas lights and
decorations. It is free to go and take a look, and of course take photos for social media!
As you can see our new campus is not only a great facility, but also in a super location! For more
information, visit our website
www.zoni.edu or contact us at info@zoni.edu for any questions. We can’t wait to welcome you to our
new Zoni Manhattan campus!
