Day 1: Introduction to Pittsburgh

Morning:
Depart early for Pittsburgh, PA.

Arrive at your hotel, meet your Zoni Tour Manager, and store your luggage.

Visit the Senator John Heinz History Center, a set of museums in association with The Smithsonian Institution. Hear inspiring stories of Western Pennsylvania’s people who have helped change the course of American history. Learn about Pittsburgh's birth and industrial history at the Fort Pitt Museum.

Afternoon:
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant featuring Pittsburgh's famous sandwiches or pierogies.

Tour the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Funded and built by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, this world-class museum first opened in 1895. Discover the dinosaur exhibits and geological displays. Explore the Hall of Ancient Egypt, the Hillman Hall of Minerals and Gems, and the underwater world of the Cretaceous Seaway.

Evening:
Group dinner at a local restaurant.

Set out on a guided walking tour to the North Shore Riverfront Park, where the Allegheny and Ohio rivers meet. Take in stunning views of Pittsburgh’s downtown skyline.

Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 2: Science and Technology

Morning:
Have breakfast at your hotel.

Start your day off with a visit to the Carnegie Science Center. Here you’ll get to explore hands-on exhibits on robotics, space exploration, and more. Watch an IMAX show at the Rangos Giant Cinema. Traverse the galaxies, soar to Saturn, and gaze at the stars at Buhl Planetarium.

Afternoon:
Break for lunch at the Science Center.

Continue your exploration of the Science Center by attending a workshop on 3D printing at The Fab Lab and find out what it’s like to be an astronaut at SpacePlace. Watch a live demonstration on nutrition, anatomy, or medical technology at the BodyStage.

Next, stop by the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Established in 1979, the Robotics Institute is now a worldwide hub of robotics research. You’ll get a chance to tour the facilities and discover cutting-edge research and developments in this STEM field.

Evening:
Group dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Conclude your evening with a stunning ride up Mt. Washington on The Duquesne Incline, modeled after an early coal hoist. Take a tour of the historic upper station where you’ll see a pictorial history of Pittsburgh's industry, inclines, sports venues, and natural disasters. Visit the machine room to observe the original hoisting equipment from 1877 in operation. Take in the panoramic views of downtown from the observation deck 400 feet above the three rivers.

Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Art and Culture

Morning:
Have breakfast at your hotel.

Visit the Andy Warhol Museum, the largest single-artist art museum in North America. Explore the life and work of this iconic artist. Participate in a guided workshop or discussion as you take in the largest collection of Warhol’s work. The exhibits range all of Warhol’s career, from his early student work to pop art paintings and collaborations.

Afternoon:
Enjoy lunch at a local eatery.

Head to the University of Pittsburgh for a tour of the renowned Cathedral of Learning. Visit the Nationality Rooms for an immersive experience that represents and celebrates the culture of the diverse communities of Pittsburgh.

Say goodbye to Steel City and depart for home.

Tour inclusions vary depending on your itinerary, but all include transportation, accommodations, venue admissions, and most meals (as outlined in your proposal).

Yes. All itineraries are fully customizable based upon your desired destination, curriculum requests, and budget needs.

Because we fully customize every itinerary, we can offer tours to any and every age group.

No, Zoni educational tours are not limited to school students alone. They can be arranged for college students, adult learners, faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, language organizations, home-school co-ops, cultural schools/organizations, businesses, or individuals with an interest in acquiring knowledge and exploring new environments.

Absolutely. We cater to various group sizes, including homeschoolers, with fully customizable itineraries.

We require a minimum of ten paying passengers per group. We have no maximum group size.

Planning should begin as soon as possible. International travel is typically planned 12-18 months before departure.

Zoni Educational travel tours have trained Tour Managers and Tour Leaders accompanying the group. For domestic travel there will be one Tour Leader for every 10 students and for international travel, there will be one Tour Leader for every 6 students.

The Tour Leader is a representative from your school. The Tour Manager is affiliated with Zoni Tours and is well versed in the destinations visited.

Yes, for domestic travel we offer one free tour leader per ten paying passengers. For international travel, we offer one free tour leader per six paying passengers.

The itineraries listed on our website include examples of destinations that we travel to, but we are happy to customize a tour of any destination you wish to visit.

While many of our domestic tours are two-night/three-day itineraries, we can customize a tour for any desired length of time.

Your transportation needs will be provided by Zoni Tours, unless otherwise noted in your proposal.

Full names, dates of birth, emergency contacts, dietary restrictions, and any other relevant information needed for your itinerary.

Students and tour leaders will be responsible for securing traveler documents and information. Zoni will keep digital copies of passports and visas for international travel in case of emergency.

All forms are signed at registration along with terms and conditions. Documentation required by your school or organization may vary.

No. Group travel is secured under one booking.

No, seats will be assigned at the time of booking.

While not guaranteed, Zoni Tours will do everything possible to accommodate this request.

Flight changes are available at your own expense, subject to group leaders' approval.

Zoni Tours will accommodate special needs per ADA and section 504. We can secure accommodations in motorcoaches, hotels, and most eateries. However, elements of certain itineraries are not accessible to wheelchairs and other devices. Please make your Educational Group Tour Coordinator aware of any special needs when you begin your travel planning.
